Steps for using excerpts automatically as the meta description for your posts and pages, using Yoast SEO.

Steps

  1. Install Yoast SEO if you haven’t already
  2. Click SEO
  3. Click Search Appearance
  4. Click Content Types
  5. Click the post type you want to configure an automatic meta description for, e.g. “Tutorials”
  6. Click Insert variable
  7. Type Excerpt
  8. Select Excerpt
  9. Click Save changes
