How to securely share passwords

Overview

Steps for securely sharing confidential information such as login credentials.

Disclaimer: All security on the web is done on a “best efforts” basis, please note there is never a completely foolproof way to securely share data.

Steps

1. Go to https://onetimesecret.com/
2. Copy and paste the login details that you wish to share into the field
3. Click Create a secret link
4. Right-click the highlighted text
5. Select Copy
6. Share the link with the person that you wish to share your login details with
7. The details are permanently deleted once the person has viewed the secret

For additional security, only share the password via OneTimeSecret and share the username separately via email.

For more complex scenarios, such as managing passwords in a team, consider using a password manager such as LastPass.
